Unemployment Compensation Resources

Although WORKFORCE CONNECTION is not the unemployment office, we can connect you to the new Department of Economic Opportunity Unemployment Compensation Benefits Center to file a claim and manage your benefits. Unemployment Compensation (also called unemployment insurance) provides temporary wage benefits to qualified individuals who are out of work through no fault of their own.

Please note that WORKFORCE CONNECTION staff members are not employed by Floridas Unemployment Compensation System and therefore cannot determine or offer opinions on anyones eligibility for benefits. However, WORKFORCE CONNECTION can provide computer, Internet, phone and fax access so you may apply for and make inquiries about eligibility/receipt of unemployment compensation benefits.

Three easy steps to file or manage your claim:
1. Go to www.FloridaJobs.org
2. At the Department of Economic Opportunity Home Page in the box with the Employ Florida logo, click on the link that says "FILE AN UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION CLAIM"
3. The online system is available 24 hours, seven days a week; HOWEVER you may only claim your week Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

There is also an automated telephone system that allows you to change your PIN or hear information about your claim. Hours are the same as for the online filing system listed above.

To talk to an Unemployment Compensation Agent regarding problems about your claim call the Unemployment HOTLINE 800-204-2418 weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and follow the directions.

Remember: You may no longer file a claim or claim weeks by phone.
