Outplacement Services
Unfortunately, there are times organizations need to downsize due to a layoff, company restructuring, or staffing reductions following a merger or acquisition. Although unemployment services are now handled directly through a special state online service, Workforce staff can help you and your employees in many ways even before and after employment ends with your organization. These services are available to employers and job candidates through State and Federal funding. Outplacement services are customized to meet the specific needs of the employer and their impacted employees.
On-site Employee Briefings
Rather than send an employee or employees out the door without the necessary tools for re-employment, call us to arrange for a one-on-one or group briefing to cover unemployment, re-training resources, job search tools and community support. All requests are kept confidential. Most employers schedule these briefings immediately after layoff notification or before the employee leaves your organization. These briefings allow employees the opportunity to meet with our team in a familiar environment. Then, when they walk into the doors of our Workforce Centers, they better understand our services and what to expect. For large events, Workforce can set-up a lab at your place of business or another convenient location where job candidates can register in Employ Florida Marketplace (EFM) and for Unemployment Compensation. We provide Spanish speaking staff when necessary.
Special Workshops
From resume writing to interviewing skills to job search tips, Workforce can arrange special workshops for displaced workers, based on their interests. Employees may need to improve computer skills or language skills to be more employable. Workshops can take place at our Workforce Centers, at your place of business or at another convenient site. In addition to custom courses provided just for your company, Workforce offers a variety of on-going mini-workshops in all three counties focused on re-employment success. Workshops provide a great way to help employees obtain the edge they need in this highly competitive job market.
Skill Assessments
Workforce provides various tools which determine a job candidate’s level of capability and employability. Those are administered either in the Workforce Centers or in partnership with Central Florida Community College’s Career Services Center. Assessments range from the evaluation of basic adult skills to career assessments to the identification of transferrable skills.
One of the newest assessment tools is Ready to Work, offered on a regular basis at our centers. This valuable tool measures Reading for Understanding, Applied Math and Locating Information.
Re-training Scholarships
Depending on circumstances and potential employment opportunities, job candidates may qualify for scholarship funding for re-employment. Scholarships are only available in targeted industry occupations that have been approved as high skill and high wage by the State of Florida. Funding is limited, so the application process is rigorous. Recently, additional Federal Funding has been secured for re-training scholarships to assist dislocated workers from 12 regional manufacturing employees.
Employer Referrals
If we are able to identify the types of positions and skills that the individuals being impacted have, Workforce is able to search online job postings and network with area employers to identify potential matches. If out-of-area placement is desired, our team has several tools to uncover opportunities outside the region. In some instances, employers have come in from out-of-area to set-up special interviews or attend job fairs.
Office Resources
Job candidates have access to employment reference library materials at our Workforce locations. They can use our computers with high speed internet, copiers, and fax machines to conduct job search activities. Evening and family friendly hours are available for those who have difficulty visiting us between 8 and 5 p.m. Check www.clmworkforce.com for directions and hours.
Job Fairs
For large scale layoffs, Workforce can design a special job fair just for your employees matching them with interested employers. For smaller events, we will let your employees know about the upcoming job fairs and how to adequately prepare.
Professional Services
For dislocated professional employees, Workforce and CFCC partner to offer on-going Retooling and Refueling Workshops. These multi-day workshops rival those of professional outplacement services. Participants learn how to deal with emotional and financial issues, hone their resumes, practice interviewing skills and zero in on the best possible fit for their skills and interests. In addition, a weekly Professional Roundtable provides an overview of services and focuses on networking opportunities, job fair announcements, leads on new opportunities and referrals.
Our new Professional Services Manager is available to consult with dislocated senior team members in a variety of areas. Those services are offered at our regional board offices at the Enterprise Center on Ocala’s Central Florida Community College Campus.
